Here’s our favourite recipe for a delicious every mornin’ ritual that will make you a better, more glowing person from the inside out!
- 2 big handfuls of Spinach
- 1 small handful Kale- 3 cups Coconut Water
- 1 cup apples/pineapple/peaches/and or pears (you can use frozen fruit if you’re in a time crunch before work, but fresh is always best, so if try prepping your fruit by cutting it up at the beginning of the week!)
- 1/2 Large Avocado
In a blender, mix coconut water, spinach, and kale for about 1 minute. Add fruit and avocado, blend again for about 1 minute. Add a few ice cubes if you like it cold, sprinkle with shaved coconut and some chia seeds and ENJOY lil’ Honeybee!
Well, its Joni Mitchell's birthday, and we think that's something to celebrate! Her music and unique approach to vocals continues to captivate new generations almost 50 years after her debut album dropped all those years ago. With fairy-like grace, she quietly rules the folk-world with the magik of unconventional but undeniable beauty, fabulous feminine style, and OH THAT VOICE. She paved the way for music that mattered, addressing big issues, but in a much simpler manner and composition than her musical counterparts, and yet, somehow, her arrangements always came together in such a way that they sparked sparkle that made everyone want to make the world a better place. While everyone else was strumming and singing of strife, politics, and despair, Ms. Mitchell doted on beautiful places and happy days, tiny moments, and longing to be back in California; while she did address political and environmental issues, there is always something hopeful about her tunes. That simplicity and uplifting undercurrent is what makes her and her music so special; indeed what was so profound about her lyrics was the simplicity of it all. She was taking notice of the beautiful little moments around her and teaching the masses through song to enjoy-even positively savor each of them. So in honor of this beautiful woman being born into this world to sing to us, we want to say this: "PREACH LIL' MAMA! GIVE US YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND LOVE! LIVING SIMPLY AND ENJOYING THE MOMENTS IS THE HONEYBEE WAY, SO WE FEEL YOU- THANKS FOR THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!"
Okay, enough of the HAPPY-HONEYBEE-RANT! Enjoy some of her tunes with their dreamy overtones, and peaceful undertones - the perfect start or finish to another beautiful day! We must start with one of our all-time faves: annnnd, we can't deny a lil' colab with another great <3
SO here it is - our new theme song! The highly anticipated, and VERY well-received Hot Natured single, Magic Carpet Ride, featuring the FLAWLESS vocals of Ali Love, is blowing our little Honeybee MINDS over here. We love the dreamy synths driving the tune the whole way through and the light-young-and-fun vibe that prevails. The dark, disco-dancefloor funk that is Jamie Jones is nothing short of delicious, and the spacey sounds Lee Foss throws our way coupled with Luca C's flawless production are a force to be reckoned with. The video made us giggle and cringe at the same time, while secretly wishing we were there, floating and flying with this crew of gorgeous, sweaty people. Warm up your speakers and your ear-balls Honeybees, and get ready for this FU*KING FABULOUS Magic Carpet Ride....
So if you haven't heard of Toro Y Moi by now, we won't chide you like the annoying Hipster who hates a band once others discover it, but gurrrrl-get on this musical train!
Chaz Bundick has got some serious goodness going on in this new track released on his Soundcloud 6 days ago. Its like a psychedelic slow jam with jazz-infused undertones, and we're digging it.
In fact, I've played it three times today in the office, I can get pretty annoying with the ol': "I LOVE this song! Ugh, I NEED to hear it again!" attitude, HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure they're grooving along with me with this one, a sure sign of a playlist keeper. So crank this and enjoy its kickback vibe, funky but cool musicality, and gorgeous vocals.
